High School/Middle School and Youth Training Camps

The Ramos Intensive Camp and his Training has helped produce at least 300 State Champs in 15 years of existence. The Camp also helped produce over 50 High School State Champions in 2018-2019 alone.

Again, this camp is designed for the wrestler who wants to win the state title and more. The Young All-Stars Wrestling facility is in a remote, rural area. There are no headaches or distractions. There is only one thing we will be doing… training to get better. This camp limits the wrestler to three things: eating, sleeping, and training to win! No Distractions!

2018 Pinellas County Teacher and Coach of the Year

2-time Medalist in ACC at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 2008 Edinboro Open Champion, Beast of the East Runner Up Champion, 3-time PA High School State Medalist – First Freshman in County to ever place in AAA PIAA states.

The Ramos Intensive Camp philosophy is Work Harder and Smarter! The amount of confidence you have is directly related to how hard you work and the amount of focus you put into attaining your best. Coach Ramos was fortunate enough to coach and win multiple state high school titles. A large part of his success was due to the following:

  • training extra and doing things that others aren’t willing to do to gain confidence and mental toughness
  • traveling out of my area to experience different partners and go to summer camps to learn techniques
  • trying new moves and drilling the techniques intensely and focused to master them

This camp is designed for the wrestler who wants to get better and push themselves to be a State Champion, National Champion, and Olympic Champion! This camp concentrates heavily on takedowns, getting out of bottom, and turning on top. Major emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of a setup, penetration step, and the finish. The camp also covers leg turns and tilts on top, and escapes and reversals on bottom. Coach Ramos preaches constant pressure on your opponent. Most camps instruct on a technique, then you try the move a couple of times, then move on to another technique without mastering any. In contrast, Coach Ramos instructs you on the discipline of various techniques, then makes you drill them hard ’til perfection. Finally, you will be trained to show your skills and technique in situational drills and live wrestling.

This camp is an intensive camp because Coach Ramos believes that most athletes have the ability to go beyond what they can do by themselves, and coaching and experience will help obtain the betterment of your determined athlete. He feels that your athlete deserves the opportunity and will only accept those who are willing to go the distance. I don’t know how hard they can push their bodies on their own, but the knowledge and motivation will surely help. You will work harder and push your body beyond what you think is possible. You will do this through intense hard work, mental training, live wrestling, and drilling. This will make you mentally and physically more tough.

Why This Camp Can Make You A WINNER:

  • Only accept 70-75 wrestlers per week depending on weights and match-ups
  • Wrestler-to-Coach ratio of 6 to 1
  • Only camp that teaches you how to drill intensely
  • Teaches you to master takedown techniques
  • Live wrestling
  • Prepares you to BREAK your opponent
  • Instructs you on escapes and reversals
  • Prepares you for mental toughness
  • All athletes have a goal to be a state champ, so intensity level is very high
  • Teaches turn and pin series
  • Discussions on diet and nutrition
  • Guidance on proper weight training

The Ramos Trained System of Wrestling:

The Ramos Training  system benefits wrestlers of all levels through a system that has been time-tested by today’s BEST. Each wrestler is taught a curriculum of techniques that will be drilled over, and over, and over to develop long-term muscle memory. Through this intense repetitive drilling, wrestlers develop confidence not only in the technique but also in themselves.

Each session we cover one technical area and drill that technique until mastered. Throughout each session techniques will be drilled and not forgotten. The last session of camp culminates with a 30 minute intense drill that is watched and filmed by parents and coaches. This will demonstrate what the wrestlers have learned from session 1 to session 12. The parents and coaches will feel and see the change in their son’s WRESTLING ABILITY, CONFIDENCE, and ATTITUDE.

In addition to the technical development at camp, your son will live wrestle every day. The last session of each day is devoted to live wrestling. Your son will get 50-70 mini matches during the week. During these sessions your son will be challenged. He will face opponents that he can beat and that can beat him. Whether he is a first year wrestler or a State Champ, he will be placed in an environment where he can improve.

How Camps are Grouped and Scheduled:

We build the camp around your son. Your son will be placed in a camp with the necessary training partners (both in weight and experience) to ensure his development. It is crucial when filling out your application that you list as many dates as possible that are options to attend. This gives Coach Ramos the best opportunity to place your son in the best week of camp for his development. These camps do fill quickly so getting your application in early is encouraged. The selection process begins in March and continues into April. Confirmations detailing the dates you are scheduled to attend, what you need to bring, and what to expect will be mailed in mid-April.

This Camp is Different:

Unlike any other camp, you will spend the entire day in the wrestling room and house property. All wrestlers sleep right on the wrestling mats on a sleeping bag or air mattress in the wrestling room. The wrestlers are supervised and mentored the entire time they are at camp. There are no distractions: no dorm rooms with video games, no swimming pools, or girls soccer camp next door. All meals are home cooked and provided on site by Mrs. Ramos and her staff. Your son will be focused on one thing: WRESTLING! Whether your son is a first year wrestler or a National Champ, he will be in an environment designed around his needs to help him reach his potential. Each wrestler is important to us and every effort is made to ensure your son gets the most beneficial wrestling experience possible. If your son is not afraid of hard work and wants to reach his full potential in the sport of wrestling, this camp is a must.
